Your Role

Special Flight Operations (SFO) is a section within Saab Flight Operations that conducts flight operations in the areas of firefighting, target flying, and measurement flying, and the section also includes an approved flight school (ATO). The flight operations are conducted both nationally and internationally.

We are now looking for a new Flight Manager/NPFO for our operations in Nyköping who will play a key role in the flight operational activities in our continued development forward. As NPFO at Saab, you will focus on ensuring a safe and efficient flight operation within our SPO HR authorization. We currently operate 1 Learjet 35, 5 MU-2, and 4 ATO-802 FireBoss. As the head of the flight operational activities, the focus is on a flight-safe, efficient, and robust operation. The Flight Manager also plays an important part in supporting the Section Manager, who has the overall business responsibility with results and budget accountability. Together, you create a robust management function.

As Flight Manager, you will;

• Be responsible for the flight operational activities within SFO and ensure that all flights are conducted in accordance with applicable legal requirements as well as internal principles, procedures, and standards.
• Work towards a safe and efficient operation of all aircraft operated by SFO.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and processes for flight operations.
• Assess and manage operational risk areas and address limitations while monitoring negative trends.
• In collaboration with the Safety Manager and Compliance Monitoring Manager, support a positive reporting culture and manage any deviations that arise.
• Work with NP Crew Training to ensure that flight operational personnel have the necessary qualifications to conduct planned flight operations.
• Maintain good contacts with relevant authorities and supervisory bodies.
• Participate in the recruitment of pilots.
• Support the Section Manager in business development, personnel follow-up, budgeting, and ensuring that operations are conducted cost-effectively.

The location is in Nyköping, and for this role, we are looking for an accessible manager who can be present to support our operations in the best way.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is passionate about leading an operation where the team always comes before the individual. You have strong collaboration skills and are skilled at building teams. With your drive and creative problem-solving, you contribute to developing the organization. Your ability to create trust and build strong relationships makes you a natural partner for the section manager in driving changes and improvements.

You are flexible, adaptable, and unpretentious, which means you are willing to take on issues even outside your direct area of responsibility. In pressured situations, you remain calm and focused, creating stability and security for the operation. You are also prepared to participate in the operational activities, both nationally and internationally, and take an active responsibility to support the Accountable Manager (AM) in maintaining an operation with a high focus on flight safety.

We see that you have;

• Documented experience in a leadership position within flight operations.
• At least a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), preferably with experience from one of the types operated by SFO.
• Good knowledge of civil regulations and standards (ICAO, EASA, TS).
• Business acumen.
• Knowledge of change management in complex environments.
• Good ability to build networks both internally and externally.
• Good ability to communicate in English and Swedish, both written and spoken.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, involve requirements for certain citizenship.
